THE SEAGULL
By Anton Chekhov
Translated and Adapted by Mike Lion
A young artist stages an experimental production in his backyard, a famous Russian actress visits her family in suburban America, and everyone is in love with each other.
This multilingual, site-specific take on Chekhov’s The Seagull, presented Sorin, Treplev, and Arkadina as a family of Russian immigrants navigating the monotony of suburban America. Characters freely switched between Russian and English, and the entire production took place in a very real Seattle backyard.
