DICE KEEPER: Twelfth Night

by William Shakespeare

Produced by Dacha Theatre

A playful send-up of directors with over-imaginative interpretations of Shakespeare, and a love letter to all the actors, designers and audiences who have endured their whims.

In Dacha’s Dice series, a small ensemble of actors memorizes the entire script of a Shakespeare show and the roles are randomized at the start of each performance. This show included a brand new wrinkle - the Dice Keeper. The Dice Keeper changed the directorial concept for each performance with no warning to the cast. One night Illyria was a small town in a Hallmark Christmas movie, another a distant planet in a Space Western, frat row, or a fancy restaurant.

The design elements changed fully for each version, and the cast had to match the tone that the Dice Keeper set out, while truly not knowing the concept until the moment they stepped on stage.
